The one with the Fair

Today, Kelli had a conference downtown, so we were lucky enough to get to carpool to work. When she got out, we met up and went to the state fair! We got there early with primo parking and had a blast the entire time. The first stop was an animal show where we saw tigers, monkeys, lions and all sorts of things. The performers were so positive and very educational. After that we caught a pig race where Kelli got to pet a piglet. After that, we saw some flying dogs chasing frisbees. The company uses rescue dogs. They would run, jump, and catch frisbees over a giant pool.

As far as the delicious fair food, we shared a polish dog, a turkey leg, and a funnel cake. The far-out combo we tried was a pair of deep-fried Oreos, a Milkyway, and a battered-up Reese's Peanut Butter Cup. As we were leaving, we passed a one-man band. He played a guitar, harmonica, drumset and had his own back-up vocals. He even played Free Bird by request!

Once we got home, we ran into our new neighbor. She had her son and their little teacup chihuahua, Brownie, with her. She told us that she's a music teacher at a local elementary school and she actually went to school in the upstate, near where Michael grew up. We're so excited to have such a nice neighbor who seems genuinely interested in keeping a nice house and being neighborly.

It really has been a wonderful day!
